Web Design Development and Other Creative Services - Pricing
Pricing in the web design industry has always been a controversial issue. Nobody likes surprises when it comes to money, however there are too many variables to give a set price when a web site is involved. After all, the web site will vary as much as the client.
Over the years I have utilized many different tools in trying to find a perfect formula for pricing only to find it really always comes back to the the client's needs, desire and budget.
For the sake of convenience, I have compiled a simple list of prices below that I hope will serve you as a fair estimating tool for your project.
Basic Small Business / Artist / Band / Actor Sites
I now offer 3 choices to most of my clients:
- BASIC HTML SITE (Most search-engine friendly and easy to integrate other types of changes, not a lot of control in page transition or music control)
- FLASH SITE (Offers much more control over the visitor's experience from page transition to music control - ideal for the restaurant, band, club or DJ)
- CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS) (Allows the client to manage their own content and publish articles/blogs as necessary)
BASE PRICE
$500 Flash or HTML site - Custom Template Design with 5 Pages (News/Home - About - Contact (with form) + 3 Misc. Pages eg. Services/Products/Resume/Testimonials/Links) - 1 Design Template with up to 3 Drafts (1st Draft, 2nd Draft and Final Approved Draft). (Note this is a base price, custom Flash sites can be ranging up to $5,000 depending on how much custom programming, design and animation is necessary.)
$600 - 5,000 CMS - I use Joomla 1.5 or Wordpress and include template customization which requires a little more time and finesse than your average html or Flash site but in the end offers a much more powerful tool and user experience.
BASE UPGRADES
- Gallery: $100 (Up to 100 images with description and 4 albums)
- Menu: $200 (For restaurants - up to 20 images, 150 items and 8 categories eg. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Sides, Beverages, Deserts)
- Flash Intro: $150 (30 second flash intro - 6 phrases, 6 graphics, music optional)
- Flash Page Header: $50 (10 second animation looping or non-looping - 1 logo - 1 phrase/slogan)
- Intro Music with Control: $25
- JukeBox Player (for DJ's, bands, voice actors etc.): $50
- Video Player: $20/video (this does not apply to videos hosted on youtube or a similar service and simply need me to embed the code, no charge for that)
- E-commerce: $300 (Up to 20 items, unlimted catetgories - Catalog and Shopping Cart - you must provide merchant account / paypal )
